Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data will be permanently deleted.

Thoughtmarks respects your right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. This page explains:

2. How to Delete Your Account

2.1 In-App Deletion (Recommended)

  1. Open the Thoughtmarks app
  2. Navigate to Settings (gear icon)
  3. Tap Account
  4. Scroll to bottom and tap Delete Account
  5. Type "DELETE" to confirm
  6. Tap Delete Account Forever

2.2 Email Deletion Request

If you cannot access the app, you can request deletion via email:

Subject Line: Account Deletion Request

Include:

  • Your registered email address
  • Reason for deletion (optional)
  • Confirmation statement: "I request deletion of my Thoughtmarks account and all associated data"

Response Time: Within 30 days (GDPR/CCPA requirement)

3. What Will Be Deleted

3.1 Immediately Deleted

Upon account deletion request, the following are immediately marked for deletion:

The following data is permanently deleted within 30 days:

System backups are permanently deleted within 90 days:

Only anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained:

Important: Retained analytics data is fully anonymized using differential privacy (ε=0.1) and k-anonymity (k≥5) and cannot be used to identify you.

4. Before You Delete

4.1 Export Your Data

Recommended: Export your data before deletion to preserve a copy.

To export your data:

  1. Open Settings → Privacy & Data
  2. Tap Export My Data
  3. Choose format (JSON, Markdown, or CSV)
  4. Save the export file to your device

4.2 Cancel Active Subscriptions

Deleting your account does NOT automatically cancel subscriptions managed through the App Store:

Important: Cancel your subscription BEFORE deleting your account to avoid being charged for the next billing cycle.
